Never did these two worlds collide better than with the Retro Drinking boom which brought style to the previously more sombre style of gathering.

Retro Tea and Coffee

Some say that modern designs are in some ways soulless when compared to the beauty of items from decades past.

For the area of vintage tea and coffee we could not agree more!

In the early to mid 20th Century, there were many potteries both here in the UK, and further afield, and the only way that they were able to compete and to stay in business was to create stunning pieces that captured peoples imaginations.

As you will see from the selection of items above, this need for competition created some iconic designs which far exceed modern offerings.

The world of design is cyclical and what 10 years ago may have seemed outdated, is now, very much in vogue.

Some would also argue that pieces such as the Tiko Coffee set by Ellgreave potteries is a timeless design especially in the exceedingly rare cobalt blue variation.

Price Kensington Hen on Nest Egg Storage

The Hen on Nest egg holder is a piece that almost all will remember from their childhood!

Due to their popularity, there were, expectedly, a number of inferior copies of this design hitting the market which has made finding an original version increasingly difficult.

This example is a genuine P&K (Price Kensington) which is apparent in the weight and quality of the piece.

One thing that sets the original versions apart from those that followed is the clarity of the casting.

As you can see from the picture, all details such as the eyes and feathers a prominent and clear.
